Rally on Main

NARROWSBURG, NY — Ed Jackson, above, deputy marshal of International Rally New York, knocked on the window of each car Saturday morning.

“Have a safe race,” he said to the 53 teams that traveled to compete for two days last weekend. Jackson, the Town of Tusten Planning Board chairman, coordinated a ceremonial restart that brought each of the cars to Main Street early in the morning on October 1.

“I never though I’d see this day,” he said.

Tom Lawless and Jason Gillespie, two Irishmen from New York City driving a Mitsubishi Lancer, won the rally.
