Three generations and a giant pumpkin

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Little Jack Spagenberg of Saratoga Springs sits atop this year’s giant pumpkin, flanked by his mother, Ashley, and his grandpa, Paul Lounsbury, the “mayor” of Grahamsville.

The mammoth pumpkin, grown by Bill Brustman of Obernberg, NY, is the latest in a series of giant gourds that have astonished fairgoers at the annual Giant Pumpkin Party, held October 1 at the fairgrounds. Brustman’s pumpkin weighed in at 667 pounds. Hay rides, carnival attractions, homemade donuts, hot cider and Halloween costumes added to the allure of the festivities, which benefit the Daniel Pierce Library.
