A master of music and birds

MILFORD, PA —Grey Towers National Historic Site will present two musical programs, including a unique performance combining music with ornithological lore. On Saturday, September 17 at 5:30 p.m. the program will be “Musical Journeys,” featuring cellist Yosif Feigelson and pianist Paap Lassmann, and including works of Couperin, Grieg, Messiaen and others. Tickets are $20 per person.

On Sunday, September 18 at 5:30 p.m., pianist Lassman—who also is the director of the Estonian Ornithological Society—will present “Music and Conversation with Bird Lovers.” He will perform Messiaen’s “Catalogue of Birds” and share information about bird species, habitat and migration in his homeland. Lassman also will show how birds and their songs can inspire music. A dialogue about Estonian and American birding will be encouraged with audience members. Tickets are $10 per person and the program also begins at 5:30 pm.
