Hermann Health Craft Fair draws crowds
By TOM KANE
CALLICOON, NY The cars crammed the parking lot and the circular road at the Grover Hermann Hospital Health and Craft Fair last Saturday, August 20.
Vendors sold crafts and health products. Technicians conducted free cholesterol and glucose and blood-pressure tests.
Delaware Valley Job Corps students led a three-mile walk, attended by 30 women and one male, through the Delaware Ridges Estates.
The event was organized by the Grover Hermann Hospital Auxiliary.
The auxiliary does all it can to keep this hospital open, said Mary Cade, president of the auxiliary. For instance, we bought a very sophisticated piece of equipment recently that cost $17,150. We are raising money all the time to keep this hospital up-to-date.
Later in the day, singer Mike Vreeland entertained attendees, followed by a group of fiddlers from Jeffersonville. At the end of the afternoon, Doctor Paul Salzberg and Physicians Assistant Ethan Singercalled a Pair of Docsentertained with songs.
This is a way that we draw attention in the community to this wonderful facility and the health services it offers, said Chris White, Grover Hermann administrator.
Students from the job corps also helped with security, parking and other functions.
The hospital is a branch of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris.
