A frolic for kids at Bethel Woods
BETHEL, NY The Harvest Festival at Bethel Woods will feature the Childrens Festival with Tom Chapin and Friends this Sunday, August 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tom Chapin, who will perform at 2:00 p.m., returns to the festival for his third year. The New York Times says he is one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music. Billboard Magazine calls Tom Chapin the best family artist around.
The day will include child-oriented activities such as a rain-stick making, face painting, macaroni necklaces, collaging, sand art, book making, story telling, arts and crafts, scavenger hunt, and the hay and corn mazes. Music will also be performed by festival favorites Judith Tulloch and Steve Franchino of Middletown. Author Helena Claire Pittman of Liberty will sign copies of her childrens books.
The Harvest Festival is located at the corner of Hurd and West Shore Roads, across the road from the Woodstock monument, site of the original 1969 Woodstock Festival. Booths are protected from the weather, with parking close to the vending area. Pets are not allowed. The event is sponsored by the Gerry Foundation, with the Tom Chapin event this week also sponsored by Crystal Run Medical Center.
