Home décor stars in three new stores
By TOM KANE
JEFFERSONVILLE, NY Recently, three new stores have come to this vibrant village, each of which provides a new shopping opportunity for home décor enthusiasts.
The Rustic Cottage on Route 52 is owned by Michael and Colleen Barber. The store specializes in Adirondack rustic furniture and emulates some better-known rustic furniture stores in the Adirondacks, stores like Ralph Kylloes Adirondack Gallery, according to Michael. We have antique-inspired rustic furniture and one-of-a-kind furniture items from artisans from around the country.
In all of the work in the store, whether garnered by himself and his wife in their many trips to the Adirondacks or the work of other artisans from around the county, the Adirondack theme is clearly stated.
Rustic Cottage has new birch primitive chairs, tables made of wood mosaics, curtains with rustic, country patterns and furniture that Michael has made himself.
My grandparents had an Adirondack camp on Lake Champlain where I spent many happy summers, so the theme is deeply engrained in me, he said.
We have work here that appeals to local people and work that appeals to second-home owners, he said. We have something for everyone.
The store can be reached by calling 845/482-4123.
The second store is new to Jeffersonville but not to the area. Bridgewater Mercantile was formerly located in Damascus, PA on Route 371.
We got the name from the fact that we were near the Cochecton bridge and near the water, said Diana Barreiro, co-owner of the store, which is now located in the former Eddys Supermarket. The entrance is on the side across from the side entrance to Mullallys Restaurant.
We have a little bit of everything, she said. We sell old and new furniture, home décor items, glassware and silverware, bedding, new farm tables which are made by the Amish in Lancaster, PA. They are made from old barn wood.
Diana has two partners, Jaime Stankevicius and Paul Hargrove. I am here during the week and they are here on weekends, she said.
The store is open every day, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We so happy to be in a town like Jeffersonville where so much is happening, she said.
The store can be reached by calling 845/482-4044.
The third store, Goode and Plenty, is owned by Kate Kennedy. The store is located on Main Street in Jeffersonville behind Global Home. It specializes in home décor, gifts, curios, greeting cards and childrens toys. Kennedy could not be reached in time for this article.
The store can be reached by calling 845/482-3865.
