Shavrick’s sculpture: marvels made of metal

By RICHARD A. ROSS

KAUNEONGA LAKE — Call it eerie or strange, creative or kinky but the zany metal sculpture of recent Liberty High School graduate Zac Shavrick of Ferndale, NY is quite simply an art form.

An array of his recent creations adorned the upper level of The Fat Lady Café on July as the local artist bedecked the second floor bar and deck with his metallic minions known by names such as “2D Man,” “MIVUT” (Made In Very Uncomfortable Temperatures), “Hydra Redux,” “The Harpsoclampist,” “Bulletholes” and “From the Rubble.”

Shavrick is bound for SUNY Purchase this fall where he will major in sculpture and work in mediums such as wood, clay and plaster as well as in metal. For more information about Shavrick, see “Magnificent Manifestations in Metal,” which appeared in The River Reporter , July 29, 2004.
