Art and literature at the Blue Victorian

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Blue Victorian is hosting a reception to celebrate the publication of “Your House, Your Home,” by Country Living contributor Randy Florke, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6. Forke, who has been featured in The New York Times and on the “Today” show, will be present to sign copies of the new book. Of home decoration, he says “Developing a visual sense is not about money and it’s not about hopping on the next bandwagon. It is about what you like...making lists of colors, textures and objects you want to collect, then learning how to search and buy.”

Following the book signing at 4:00 p.m., there will be a Gallery Talk with artist Margo Spoerri, whose exhibit in the gallery has been extended one week through August 7th.

Spoerri’s work has been described as “unbelievably lush, magical and other-worldly.” The talk, an interactive dialogue moderated by gallery owner Greg Brooks with opportunity for audience participation, will explore her inspiration, technique and the joys and challenges of specific paintings. Admission is free and reservations are suggested.
