Edgy win over Lewis Auto Parts extends Factory’s undefeated run

MONTICELLO, NY—If you want to be perfect at something, you have virtually no margin for error. It’s a mantra that has given Fitness Factory (12-0) an edge this season as it has gotten by all of its opponents including heavy hitting Lewis Auto Parts (12-2). Beating Lewis means getting hits off of hard throwing Tim ‘Chopper’ Ackerman or Bob Head, and playing heads-up defense as the balls that come off of Lewis’ bats are often extremely hard hit.

MONGAUP VALLEY, NY—In the National Football League, the saying goes “On any given Sunday any team can beat any other.” That quotable gem, which gave rise to the movie “Any Given Sunday,” certainly applies to the Sullivan County Women’s Softball League on a nearly daily basis. This season, however, Cooper Paint seems to be in the process of trying to prove that the old adage applies to everyone but them.

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY – When you think about contact sports, it is football, soccer, boxing, wrestling, lacrosse and rugby that come to mind. But anyone who plays basketball knows it’s not a game for the meek or the faint-at-heart. Bodies collide, outstretched hands swipe at the ball but often find arms, faces or other body parts. Then there are the inevitable spills that send players skittering across the floor. Sprained ankles, wrenched knees or even torn Anterior Cruciate Ligaments (ACL’s) can be the byproducts of the rumbles for the rock.
