Down on the farm

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — This year’s Down on the Farm Day will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6 at the Geiger Family Farm on Likel Road. The event, which gives consumers an opportunity to learn something about agricultural methods and see where their food ultimately comes from, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Down on the Farm Day has been held at over 34 farms over the past 24 years, with several farms hosting the event twice. In the initial years, the event was held simultaneously at two locations. The Geiger family first served as host in 1995.

This year’s event will feature regular milking demonstrations, hay baling, a farm equipment display, young farm animals and 4H animals; educational booths, the Dairy Princess and guided tours of the farm.

Food will be available at a nominal cost. The fee is $1.
