Cyrano takes the stage in Hancock
HANCOCK, NY The Little Victory Players will bring their interpretation of Cyrano de Bergerac to the stage at The Old Capitol Theater, 170 East Front Street. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on July 29 and 30 and at 2:00 p.m. on July 31.
Rostands tragic romance about an expert swordsman, wit and poet whose hideous nose keeps him from proclaiming his love for a beautiful young woman, is probably best known to modern American audiences through Steve Martins updated take on the plot in the movie Roxanne. The play as written, however, is set in the 17th century, the age of Corneille and Racine, and draws on the romantic conventions of an earlier age. At The Old Capitol Theater, the Little Victory Players will give the audience an opportunity to see the work in this original form.
