Golfers overcome chancy weather to win Catskill Cup

COCHECTON, NY—Despite an occasional thunder shower and saturating humidity, the Catskill Cup celebrated 10 years as one of Sullivan County’s premier golf tournaments at the Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center on Sunday, July 17. The tournament benefits SullivanArc, a not-for-profit agency whose mission is to enable people with disabilities to live as contributing members of the community.

The Catskill Cup Tournament champions were Robert Kuhn and his teammates Rick Bossley, Kevin Shortall and Han Maeang. This is the second year in a row that Kuhn has made his mark at the Catskill Cup: last year at the 9th annual tournament he hit a hole-in-one. Second place went to last year’s first-place winning foursome of Bob Sipos, Ricky Morgan, Tom Drobysh and Anthony Rein. The third-place spot was held by the foursome of Joe Michulski, Michael Grainger, Mike Finn and Tom Struk.

Noah Ingber, an employee at Sullivan Industries and a resident of SullivanArc’s Woodbourne residence, hit a ceremonial first ball to kick off the tournament and to draw attention to SullivanArc’s newly formed Special Olympics Golf Team.

The tournament’s principle business sponsor is Key Bank.
