FRANK CALDIERO
HORTONVILLE, NY Frank Caldiero, a resident of Hortonville, died on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 76.
The son of the late Fortunato and Vita Melici Caldiero, he was born January 19, 1929 in Manhattan. He was the widower of Marilyn Rugh Pelton Caldiero.
Caldiero was a retired carpenter with the New York City District Council of Carpenters and a member of the Holy Cross Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4448 of Callicoon. He was also a member of the Hortonville Fire Department and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by five daughters, Sharon Caldiero Schroeder of Callicoon, Lisa Caldiero of Wurtsboro, Joanne Caldiero of Walden, Marilyn Caldiero Martuinucci and her husband John of Manhassett Mills and Tricia Caldiero of Lake Louise Marie; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Schroeder, Andrew Schreier, Ryan, Colin and Faye Davis, Dillon Christopher Martinucci; a brother, Joseph Caldiero of Columbus, MS, a special niece, Julia Ann Schlegel of Livingston Manor and several other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Carmela Gisoni.
Firematic Services by the Hortonville Fire Department were held on Tuesday, July 18. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, July 19 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon with Father Ignatius Smith, OFM officiating.
Interment is in the Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.

JUDY M. DECESAR CASSOL
NARROWSBURG, NY Judy M. DeCesar Cassol, a resident of Narrowsburg and a resident of the area since 1953 died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Lancaster, PA.
The daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Amattie DeCesar, she was born April 27, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY.
Cassol was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Xavier RC Church in Narrowsburg.
A family statement said: She was an exceptionally loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a true friend to all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. With all her positive attitude, wonderful sense of humor and outgoing personality, she brought much joy and happiness to everyone who came to know her. She will live forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bruno Cassol, at home in Narrowsburg; two daughters, Janice ONeill and her husband Michael of Lititz, PA and Carol Thomas and her husband Pete of Fort Valley, VA; one son, Robert Bob Cassol of Floyd, VA; one brother, Charles DeCesar; one sister, Lottie Cassol and her husband Gwedo; a brother-in-law, Clyde Cassol; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Nick DeCesar; three sisters, Marie Mulvihill, Rose Fretwell and Isabelle Horz.
Cremation took place at Evans Eagle Crematory, Leola, PA.

CHARLOTTE YVONNE COX
SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY Charlotte Yvonne Cox, a Sullivan County resident, died on July 15, 2005 at her sons residence in Eufaula, AL. She was 67.
The daughter of the late Clarence Abplanalp and Edith Eronimus Abplanalp, she was born November 12, 1937 in Sullivan County.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Cox of Apple Valley, CA, Bernie and Dot Cox of Eufaula, AL, Cheryl and Frank Russell of Clemmons, NC and Cameron Abplanalp of Cochecton Center, NY; her grandchildren, Jake and Crystal Cox of Eufaula, AL, Nicholas Russell and Christina Russell, both of Clemmons NC and Jamie Cox of Eufaula, AL; and one great-grandchild, Carson Cox of Eufaula, AL.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York according to the McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, GA.

ROBERT H. DOSS
PORT JERVIS, NY Robert H. Doss, a lifelong resident of Port Jervis, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 65.
The son of the late Harold J. and Florence Keller Doss, he was born in Port Jervis on October 31, 1939.
Doss was a retired police sergeant with the Port Jervis Police Department and a member of the active Trustee and Worship Leader at the Drew United Methodist Church; a member and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 645; a member and past treasurer of the Lumberland Lions Club; a member of the Port Jervis Police Benevolent Association, the Retired Police Association of the State of New York and Interstate Law Enforcement Association. He was a former Port Jervis Third Ward Councilman and presently served on the Orange County Water Authority. He had served as a director of both the Little League and Port Jervis Pop Warner and was a coach of the Giants and later a Pop Warner referee and little league umpire. He was also an army veteran and served in the military police.
He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Kolvenbach Doss at home; two sons, Scott D. and his wife Heidi of Sparrowbush and Tracy L. and his companion Dawn of Port Jervis; one daughter, Tammy L. Bisland and her husband James of Glen Spey; two brothers, Michael D. and his wife Audrey of Port Jervis and John H. and his wife Fran of Spring Hill, FL; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Sarah, and Hanna Bisland, and Tyler and Christoper Doss; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashley Boo Bisland on August 10, 2004.
Services were held on Thursday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis with the Reverend Robert D. Cassidy officiating.
Interment will be at Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville, with military honors.
WILHELMINE FAHRENKRUG LUHRS
LAKE ARIEL, PA Wilhelmine Fahrenkrug Luhrs, a resident of Lake Ariel and a former resident of Beach Lake and Jeffersonville, NY, passed away quietly on July 15, 2005.
Luhrs was born in New York City and retired from working as a bookkeeper in 1958. After their retirement she and her husband, Adolph Luhrs, moved to Jeffersonville where they lived for 31 years before his death. In 1990 she moved to Brighten at Julia Ribaudo in Lake Ariel. She was a member of the Lincoln Chapter No. 463 of the Order of the Eastern Star of the State of New York for 26 years.
A family statement said: Wilma was ...an avid pinochle player into her 90s, enjoying the company of many of her friends. Wilmas smile and sense of humor will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Adolph Luhrs.
She is survived by two devoted cousins, Conrad Aasen and his wife Nancy of Fork Union, VA and Lorne Nissen of Jeffersonville and Barneveld, NY; as well as many other family and friends.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 20 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home. Interment is in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.

JOHN I. NIED SR
SPARROWBUSH, NY John I. Nied, a resident of Sparrowbush and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, July 15, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 86.
The son of the late Idres W. Nied and Marjorie Quinn Nied, he was born May 9, 1919 in Sparrowbush.
He was retired from Fogelson Bakery in Newton, the retired manager for (Westfall) Deerpark Dairy of Port Jervis and a retired security guard for Orange County Community College. He was a member of the Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Port Jervis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II with the rank of Technical Sergeant serving in Italy and Africa; a member of Roosa-Fleming VFW Post # 161 in Port Jervis; a lifelong member of the Sparrowbush Fire Department and a recreational pilot who flew Cessna and Piper Clubs in the tri-state area.
A family statement said: John was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Nied is survived by his son, John Nied and his wife Connie of Sparrowbush; two daughters, Pat Howard and her husband Walt of Sparrowbush and Linda Worden and her husband Michael of Port Jervis; his grandchildren Terry DeGroat and her husband Kevin, David Nied and his wife Janene, Lisa Reed and her husband Chris, Jeff Howard and his wife Rachel, Greg Howard and his wife Karen, Michael Worden, Bill Worden and his wife Angela, Scott Worden, Melissa Pulsinelli and her husband Anthony; great-grandchildren Sarah and Timmy DeGroat, Anna, Alissa and Emily Nied, Amanda and Jenna Newman, Sierra Reed Cheyerine and Kayla Howard, Lindsey and Tyler Howard, Brianna and Alexis Worden, Ryan and Michael Worden, Emma Pulsinelli; one great-great-granddaughter, Ashley McKeon; longtime friend and neighbor Rodney Jorgenson; one sister, Veronica Bogen of Sparrowbush; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Odd Bogen.
Services were held on Tuesday, July 19 at the Knight-Archmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at the Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church with the Reverend Dennis Dinan officiating.
Interment is in St. Marys Cemetery in Port Jervis with military honors.

ROBERT PAVESE
FOUNTAIN, CO Robert Pavese, a resident of Fountain and a former resident of Narrowsburg, NY, died on July 1, 2005.
The son of Dominic and Maira (Maroni) Pavese, he was born in New York, NY on March 29, 1911.
A family statement said: Mr. Pavese was very proud of his family history especially the fact that his family arrived at Ellis Island. He was a paratrooper in World War II and a band leader in the Army orchestra. He had a great love of music with a passion for jazz.
He was predeceased by his wife, Loraine Hendrickson.
He is survived by his children, Robert Pavese and Mary (Michael) DePace; his grandchildren, Nichole and Michael John DePace and Carriana Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his beloved chihuahua, Raine.
Memorial services will be held on July 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Main Street in Fountain.
MARY L. BOMBA SANDLIN
HAWLEY, PA Mary L. Bomba Sandlin, a lifelong resident of Hawley, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2005 at home. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Charles K. and Anna Hadupiak Bomba, she was born in Scranton.
Sandlin was a Hawley High School graduate and a homemaker.
She is survived by her former husband, William H. Sandlin of Hawley; three daughters, Kathleen Ann Holt of Hickory, NC, Susan Carol Russell of Conklin, NY and Mary Jean Saylor of Hamburg; a son, William C. Sandlin of Hawley; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, a sister, Ann Kreiter of Hawley; and several nieces and nephews.
A private prayer service will be held at the convenience of the family, with an interment to follow at BVM Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley.
