OBIE award winning LAVA, a company of acrobatic performers, now has a real trapeze erected for their performances at the North American Cultural Laboratory (NaCl) in Highland Lake.
We just erected it today, said Tannis Kowalchuk, co-creator and co-director of NACL. Its going to be the real thing for these trapeze performers.
This is the third year LAVA is appearing at NACL. These will be their first performances with a trapeze.
They have returned due to critical acclaim, Kowalchuk said.
The New York City company will utilize some multi-media effects in their presentation, such as video and music. The performance, entitled (w)HOLE, will focus on volcanoes, rock formations, punctuated theory and magnetic polarity reversal, Kowalchuk said.
These six women create performances that cross boundaries of theater, circus acrobatics and dance, she said.
This will be the longest festival NACL has presentedseven weekends from July 15 to August 27.
The audience will be seated on all four sides like theater in the round, she said.
Tickets are offered at a price that people can afford. We suggest paying anything from eight dollars to 20 dollars, Kowalchuk said.
