Riverfest back for its fifteenth encore

NARROWSBURG, NY — Local artists and the river valley home that sustains their creativity will be celebrated at the 15th annual Riverfest, a music, art and environmental festival set for Sunday, July 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Main Street.

Live music provided by Carl Deitz’s Inner Urge jazz band in the morning and The Linemen’s Bluegrass in the afternoon will provide entertainment for the crowds visiting the stands of artists, artisans and vendors lining the street.

An auction of posters created by area artists, a perennial Riverfest favorite, will return this year, with auctioneer Pamela Moore Epstein taking the stage at 1:00 p.m. for this centerpiece event. Proceeds benefit the visual arts program at Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. Posters can be viewed in the Delaware Arts Center’s windows or at artsalliancesite.org.

Kids Korner, coordinated by Maureen Cookingham, will provide a venue for young artists to create their own art projects or their own mini-posters, and NaCl Theatre’s stilt-walkers will perform at 12:15 p.m.

Several new events will make their debut this year as well. Among them are a poets’ booth, coordinated by the Upper Delaware Writers Collective, featuring readings throughout the day; an authors’ table at which area writers will be available for book signings; and “River Dogs on Parade,” a parade and contest of man’s best friends sporting festive thematic décor at 10:00 a.m. First, second and third place awards will be given for most creative, funniest and best look alike canine costumes.

The National Park Service bookstore and information center will be open to discuss the Upper Delaware Valley. A book sale will take place at the Tusten-Cochecton Library, and Art Peck’s latest criscraft will be on Main Street for all to see.
