HAROLD BUD BRAZILIAN
VALLEY COTTAGE, NY Harold Bud Brazilian, a resident of Valley Cottage, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005 at home with his family by his side. He was 88.
The son of Victor and Mary (Thomas) Brazilian, he was born December 24, 1916 in Linden, NJ.
Brazilian was the founder and original owner of Buds Nyack Taxi. After his retirement, his garden and tomato plants were his pride and joy.
Brazilian is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his daughters, June and her husband John McGullicuddy of Wappingers Falls, Joyce Haring and her companion Hank Hudson of Cochecton, Carol and her husband Bill Draudt of Narrowsburg, and Nancy and her husband Frank Doyle of Bellvue Neb; his son, Robert and his fiancée , Frieda of Englewood, Fla; 16 grandchlidren; many great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Buddy.
A family statement said: HE will be sadly missed by all family.
He was predeceased by a son, Edward, and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 6 at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home with the Reverend Warren Brandt officaiting.
Interment will be in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.

ESTHER (ELKIN/ELKANOVICH) GOLDSTEIN
ELLENVILLE, NY Ester (Elkin/Elkanovich) Goldstein, a resident of Ellenville for over 60 years, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine, NY. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Sarah and Abraham Elkanovich, she was born in Odessa, Russia on February 15, 1913.
She was a homemaker and the widow of Meyer Mickey Goldstein, a noted hotel steward in Ellenville areas portion of the Borsch Belt. He predeceased her on September 20, 1985.
Goldstein is survived by three daughters, Karen Blocker and her husband Alan of Lake Katrine, Edith Meyers and her husband Leslie of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Arlene Bank and her husband, Bruce of Monticello; six grandchildren, Wendy (Blocker) Schwalk and her husband Richard of Jeffersonville Seth Blocker and his wife Linda of Delhi, Paul Meyers and his wife Alison of Chicago, Ill, Stephanie Meyers and her fiancé Brett Boyer of Milwaukee, Wis, Stacy Bbank and her fiancé Phillip Jackson of Monticello and Lisa Bank of Monticello; five great-grandchildren, Alex and Jessica Schwalb of Jeffersonville, Rachel and Benjamin Blocker of Delhi and Lilah Meyers of Chicago, Ill. And many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and special friends.
Esther Goldsteins watchwords were Esn un bentshn un zie a mentsh which means Eat and pray and be a good person.
A family statement said She always had a ready hand and ready words to help her family and all of her many adoring neighbors and friends throughout her 92 years. Having come from Russia with only her elder sister by her side during that journey, she joined other family members once she arrived in America. Esther made a happy life for her husband, her mother and her children. She lived modestly and sincerely. Esther was deeply loved and will be terribly missed.
Services were conducted on June 29 at Congregation Ezrath Israel by Rabbi Moshe Frank.
Interment is at the Anshe Tzaydik Cemetery in Wawarsing.
Shiva was at the home of Alan and Karen Blocker on Wednesday, June 29.

PAT A. KERN
MIDDLETOWN, NY Pat A. Kern, an area resident since 1978 and a former resident of Brooklyn, died on Monday, June 13, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 55.
The daughter of Anne Rakucewicz and the late Robert Wright, she was born January 16, 1950 in New York, NY.
She worked as a nursing assistant at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus for 13 years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Middletown.
She is survived by her husband, Peter A. Kern and his wife, Nancy of Middletown, Charles Kern and his wife Valerie of Spring Hill, Fla, and Kenneth Kern and his wife Olivia of Cochecton, NY; her mother, Anne Rakucewicz and her husband John of Florida; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a niece.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church Building Fund.
ELSIE M. OPPELT
PORT JERVIS, NY Elsie M. Oppelt, a resident of Port Jervis and a lifelong resident of the area, died on Saturday, July 2, 2005. She was 66.
The daughter of the late Fred C. and Carrie Conklin, she was born on August 11, 1938 in Cuddebackville, NY.
She was the widow of Arther G. Oppent, Sr. who died February 12, 2000.
She was a member of Drew United Methodist Church, Howard Wheat Engine Co. No 4 Ladies Auxiliary; and A.A.R.P. She had been employed at Novelty Slipper Co.; Kolmar Labs; and Andmore Sportswear.
A family statement said: A loving and caring person, Elsie was known for thinking of everyone else before herself. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her companion, Harry Oppelt of Port Jervis; a son, Arthur G. Oppelt Jr. and his wife Susan of Glen Spey; two daughters, Sheila Pflanz and her husband Richard of Eldred and Susan Lynn Perry and her husband William of Port Jervis; three brothers, Jesse Conklin and his wife Ida of Port Jervis, William Conklin and his wife Pat of Port Jervis and Frank Conklin and his wife Joan of Huguenot; three sisters, Henrietta Crawn and her husband Allen of Port Jervis, Cordelia DeStefano and her husband Don of Port Jervis and Lois Conkin of Sparrowbush; four granddaughters, Stacy and Tiffany Oppelt and Clarissa and Brittany Pflanz; two brothers-in-law, Harold Oppelt and his wife Cheryl of Sprakers, NY and Frank Oppelt and his wife Mae of Port Jervis; a sister-in-law, Jean Swingle of Port Jervis; two very special friends, Betty Fink of Port Jervis and Martha Frisbie of Matamoras, PA; special nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat, Angel.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margie Morgan.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 6 at the Drew United Methodist Church with the Reverend Robert D. Cassidy officiating.
Interment will be at Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville, NY.
