Editor's pick: Murder Mystery dinner theater
Casino mystery served up in Hawley this summer
Wednesdays, July 13 through August 24. Falls Port Inn & Restaurant, Hawley, PA. 845/252-3136.
Amateur detectives will get a chance to try out their sleuthing skills at Falls Port Inn & Restaurants fourth annual Summer Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre series this summer. The first interactive theater event features the award-winning Lakeside Players, who will perform an all-original script Dealt a Deadly HandMurder at the Pocono Royale Casino. The setting is the (fictional) first gambling establishment in the Poconos, and the cast includes Vegas-style characters, Chief Wooden Nickel, a native American who is trying to take over the casino for his tribe, the Pocono Royales owner, Rick Crane, who has to fight off his showgirl ex-wife, Lola, and Stella and Carmella Portabella, two elderly Italian sisters who love to gamble.
There is no stage in the murder mystery productions. Most of the action takes place in and around the audience, with the cast interacting with the guests. Audience members who wish to participate may do so; others are free to relax, eat, and enjoy the show.
As is customary at the Falls Port Inns murder mysteries, prizes will be awarded to those who correctly solve the mystery at each performance.
Seating is limited and advance reservations are required.
