Memorable images of a great sports year
By RICHARD A. ROSS
LAKE HUNTINGTON, NYTo the timeless strains of Pomp and Circumstance, the graduates of 2005 have officially put an end to their tenure at our local high schools. For many this rite of passage denotes an end to their participation in varsity athletics.
Timely congratulations are in order to our senior athletes, many of whom played a crucial role in this action-packed year. As a witness to their fine efforts, this writer, along with their coaches and school personnel, can attest that they will be surely missed.
Each of the three seasons had its special moments.

Dads team up with kids to fish at 12th annual contest
ELDRED, NYThe Eldred Preserve held its 12th annual father/child fishing contest on Fathers Day, June 19 at the Preserves 70-acre Sunrise Lake. The kids got to take their dads fishing for three hours using the Preserves 16-foot bass boats. This unique contest, organized by Lou Monteleone, had eight species of fish assigned point values from the hardest to catch hybrid striper worth 100 points, to the simple bluegill worth one point.
Ron and Ronny Wagner from Wyckoff, NJ were the winners with a mixed bag of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and bluegills. All the kids caught fish and really enjoyed spending quality fishing time with their dads. Trophies were awarded to the top three winning teams. The Eldred Preserve will be holding this event again next year.
