Upbeat and flavorful jazz in City Rhythm

Sat., June 25, 6:00 p.m. Wildflower Amphitheater at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary, White Mills, PA. 570/253-5500.

With a program featuring the music of Count Basie and excerpts from the Bobby Darin songbook, City Rhythm will return to the stage at the Wildflower Music Festival for the opening concert of the festival’s 2005 season. The City Rhythm Orchestra, a spunky jazz ensemble, showcases hot horn players, a smokin’ rhythm section, innovative arrangements and great vocals. The swing band has been entertaining since 1985 at jazz festivals, private parties, corporate functions and concert venues with their distinctive style and upbeat brand of music. Philadelphia Magazine named City Rhythm “Best of Philly” in 1994 and 1998. The Philadelphia Inquirer called them “Philly’s premier swing outfit.”

The group’s performance is sponsored by the Wayne Bank. Guests are invited to enjoy the pristine setting with lawn chairs and picnics. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at the Wallenpaupack Area High School.
