ELLIS WARD BURLINGAME
CALLICOON, NY Ellis Ward Burlingame died on June 7, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 76.
The son of Harry Ellis and Mildred Latimer Burlingame, he was born August 19, 1928 in Acidalia, NY.
He was a retired lieutenant for the New York State Department of Corrections at Sullivan Correctional Facility and a retired auctioneer. He was a member of the Jeffersonville Masonic Lodge #521, Shorthorn Association and he owned the only herd of purebred shorthorns in Sullivan County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a graduate of Ulster Community College.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Anna Iken Burlingame at home; one son, Ward Ellis Burlingame and his wife Julie Frances Hugins Burlingame; one daughter, Becky Reddish and her husband Norman Butch; a very dear friend who was like a son, Edward Loughrey and his wife Debra; one sister, Ruth Kane of Rochester; five grandchildren, Brittany Ann Reddish, Blain Ward Reddish, Matthew Ward Burlingame, James Ellis Burlingame, and Dolores Dorothea Cunningham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Mastrogiovani and a brother Perry Burlingame.
Services were held on Friday, June 10 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Cremation will be at the Twin Tiers Crematory at Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

VINCENT J. CORTESE, JR
NARROWSBURG, NY Vincent J. Cortese, Jr., a longtime area resident, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 77.
The son of Marie Monaco Cortese and the late Vincent J. Sr, he was born June 5, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY. He was married to Marion Neumeyer Cortese.
Cortese was a retired driver for the Villa Roma and for Lang Industries. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served as a corporal during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Narrowsburg, a past commander and member of the Tusten-Highland VFW Post 6427 and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Marion at home; his mother, Marie Cortese; one daughter, Marie Dietrich and her husband Dennis; three step-children, Gladys, Gemma and Phil Olivia; two sisters, Margurite Schroeder and Delia Cortese; two granddaughters, Analey and Shannon; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Sylvia.
Services were held on Saturday, June 11 at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Narrowsburg with the Reverend Anthony Moore OFM officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Frances Cemetery in Narrowsburg, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corp in Narrowsburg.
ALBERT W. FRISBIE
HAWLEY, PA Albert W. Frisbie, a lifelong resident of Hawley, died on June 6, 2005 at the Community Medical Center in Scranton as a result of injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident. He was 83.
The son of the late Dorothy E. (Dexter) Frisbie and Clarence Frisbie, he was born in Tafton.
He was a retired psychiatric security aid for Fairview State Prison and a member of the Hawley United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Army having served in World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and a member of the American Legion, Wilson-Kelch Post 311 in Hawley and the Disable American Veterans.
He is survived by two daughters, Lea Peoples of Lakeville and Mary Lou Frisbie of Archbald; a son, Howard of Christiana; a sister, Mary Compton of Hawley; two brothers, Robert of Zephyr Hills, FL and Clinton of Hawley; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, June 10 at Teeters East Chapel with the Reverend Martin L. Cox, Jr., pastor of Hawley United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment is at the Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley.

ELENOR L. MALL
JEFFERSONVILLE, NY Elenor L. Mall, a resident of Jeffersonville, died on June 7, 2005 at home. She was 82.
The daughter of Harry and Lillian Schaefer Layman, she was born July 25, 1922 in Beechwoods, NY.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Warren Mall Plumbing, Heating and Hardware and a member of the Jeffersonville United Methoidst Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of Emmett Turner Post # 276 American Legion and she served many years on the board of education at Jeff-Youngsville Central School.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Forsblom and he husband Michael of Hankins; one sister, Helen Schafer of Jeffersonville; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her children, Wayne Warren Mall, Patricia Kandl and Aline Palmer; and a sister, Marion Manzolillo.
Services were held on Friday, June 10 at the Jeffersonville Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Hagerty officiating.
Interment will be in the Jeffersonville Methodist Cemetery.

FRANK B. MARTIBELLO
LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY Frank B. Martibello, a resident of Lake Huntington and a lifelong area resident, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill, NY. He was 85.
The son of the late Michael and Margaret Pisino Martibello, he was born June 26, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY. He was married to the late Madeline Martibello, who passed away in 2004.
A retired truck driver for F&M Trucking, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was part of the Pattons Third Army and he landed on Utah Beach in Normandy. He was also a member of the Tusten-Highland VFW; and a member of the NRA and the NYS Rifle and Pistol Association.
He is survived by one stepson, Thomas Bonanza nad his wife Stella of Cochecton; two step daughters, Frances Failla and her husband Sebastian of FL and Rose DiMartino and her husband Michael of NC; two brothers, Tommy and his wife Mabel of Narrowsburg, and Anthony and his wife Rose of Queens; one sister, Millie Pocoroba of CA; seven step grandchildren, Christopher Failla and his wife Amy, Creg Failla and his wife Jenise, Lynn Palumbo and her husband Dominick, Martine DiMartino, Michael, Thomas and Pamela Bonanza; seven great grandchildren, Sabastian Failla, Sidney and Madison Failla, Courtney and Thomas Failla, Madeline and Ariana Palumbo; one nephew, Joseph Pocoroba; four nieces, Margie Pocoroba, Kathy Martibello-Stieff, Margaret Sarantino and Ann Martibello; two great nieces, Katlyn Martibello-Stieff and Emily Sarantino; and one great nephew, Joseph Sarantino.
He was predeceased by one sister, Phyllis Martibello; one brother, James; and one nephew, Michael Martibello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Narrowsburg.
Interment will be in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

ROBERT B. MILLER
BEACH LAKE, PARobert B. Miller, a retired sergeant and 34-year veteran with the Pelham, NY police department, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Ellen Memorial Nursing Home, Honesdale, PA. He was 91.
The son of the late Harvey and Alice Baker Miller, he was born March 9, 1913 in New Rochelle, NY. He was married to Eloise Polly Moulton Miller for 70 years.
He was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise, at home; one daughter, Sister Roberta Miller of Columbus, OH; as well as several cousins. He was predeceased by one son, William , and one sister, Marcella Rohrs.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.
RUSSELL ARTHUR MOTT
WELCOME LAKE, PA Russell Arthur Mott, a resident of Welcome Lake and a lifelong area resident, died on Monday, June 6, 2005 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
The son of the late John and Molly Rauschmeier Mott, he was born August 27, 1918 in Taylor, PA. He was married to the late Shirley Case Mott, who passed away December 13, 2002.
Mott was the retired owner of Shirleys Lakeside House in Welcome Lake. He worked in the CC Camps in the 1930s and later worked for the railroad. He was also employed as a carpenter and then retired from Moor Business Forms in Honesdale. He was the founding member of the Welcome Lake Fire Department as well as a member of the Planning Commission. He was an active member of the school board in the 1960s.
He is survived by two sons, William and his wife Julie, and Robert and his wife Sharlene of Welcome Lake and two granddaughters, Brianna and Mariah Mott.
He was predeceased by one brother, Lester.
A family statement reads: He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, enjoying both hunting and fishing.
Services were held on Thursday, June 9 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg, NY with the Reverend Dr. Gordon Weightman officiating.
Cremation will take place at the HG Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beach Lake United Methodist Church or to the Welcome Lake Fire Department.
ROLF L. SPERLING
BEACH LAKE, PARolf L. Sperling, retired painter and decorator and longtime area resident, died Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He was 78.
The son of the late Leslie and Erna Gerx Sperling, he was born October 22, 1926 in Germany. He was married to Hildegard Bernhard for 57 years.
He immigrated from Germany in 1959 with his wife and two daughters. He was a WWII veteran. He volunteered for 15 years on the Tusten Ambulance Corp, Narrowsburg, NY, and the National Ski Patrol. He enjoyed life the fullest playing golf, tennis and painting.
He is survived by his wife, Hildegard; two daughters, Gabriele Vannatta and her husband Andy, of Pittsburgh; Evelyn Cimahosky and her husband Tony, of Beach Lake; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Roland; and one sister, Ingrid Rauscher.
Visitation was held on Tuesday and funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. The Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiated. Burial will take place at the Indian Orchard Cemetery in Honesdale.
