KINGSTON, NY — It’s all coming together for Sullivan West’s Sean Semenetz as the serious year-round golfer, heading to Drexel University next fall, racked up two big wins in the space of three days.

On May 22, Semenetz won the Nike International Junior Golf Tour tournament stop at French Creek Golf Club in Elverson, PA by besting a field of 43 golfers with a 4-over par 146.

On May 23, Semenetz tied Brian Glavotsky of Washingtonville for the lead on day one of the Section 9 tournament at the Villa Roma.

On May 24, Semenetz blazed ahead of the competition at the Wiltwyck Golf Club course and won the Section 9 title by six strokes over his nearest competitor Doug Kleeschulte of Kingston, who shot a 152 for second place. Things got interesting for Semenetz when his final tee shot landed in a bed of flowers to the right of the 18th fairway. Allowed to play the ball, Semenetz triple-bogeyed the par-four hole and won the tourney by racking up a one-over-par 73 giving him a two-day total of 146.

Semenetz qualified for the state championship, which will be held in Ithaca on June 5 and 6. It will be Semenetz’s second bid at a state title. Last year he failed to make the cut for the second day return trip to states.

Other state qualifiers included Chris DeForest of Rondout Valley (153), John Singh of Tri-Valley (154), Nick Urso of Ellenville (156), James Cook of James I. O’Neill (157), Matt Jaye of James I. O’Neill (157), Tim Ferraro of Kingston (158) and Scott Wheeler of Chapel Field (158).
