Champions in their own right

Sullivan County Meet of Champions, the Orange County Decathlon and the Orange County League Meet produce winners, records and personal bests

WARWICK, NY—The 2005 track season is about to reach its zenith with sectional meets, the upcoming state qualifier and the New York State Championships. But the run up to the grand finale in the form of this past week’s menu of meets offered something for everyone.

On May 10, Sullivan County track and field athletes had a chance to vie against each other without the pressure of team scoring at the Sullivan County Meet of Champions held in Jeffersonville.

Baseball

Bulldogs eye sectionals as new

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—Sometimes numbers can be extremely misleading. Take Liberty’s baseball record for example. Though the Indians didn’t make sectionals this year by virtue of their 3-17, 3-6 OICAA record, there probably weren’t many better hitting teams in Section Nine’s Class B.

Delgado and Brucher pace Bulldogs’ series- sweeping win over Liberty

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—The success of Sullivan West’s softball season will likely be judged by coach Mike Ellmauer according to the criteria he holds dearest: making it to sectionals. As each new season starts out, it is a goal that Ellmauer holds aloft to his players, enticing them with the idea that making sectionals puts them among the elite teams of the state.
