Fremont resolves opposition to Sullivan West school closings

FREMONT CENTER, NY — The Fremont Town Board last week joined in the Sullivan West school closings controversy when it unanimously endorsed a resolution opposing the idea.

Noting that $15 million has been spent in renovating the Narrowsburg and Hankins buildings, the board termed the closings as “a financially unsound move that will be disaster for many Sullivan West residents…”

The board urged the district board of education to find another solution to the district’s financial problems that does not involve closing down the Delaware Valley and Narrowsburg schools.
