County honors its communicators

National Telecommunicators Month was observed earlier this month and the Sullivan County Legislature took the opportunity on April 21 to recognize the work of the dispatchers at the county communications/911 center. Emergency Management Commissioner Richard Martinkovic, pictured right, said the presentation after the recent flood emergency was well timed. Martinkovic said up to six dispatchers were on duty during the height of the emergency. “Anyone who needed help, got it. They touched every township,” he said. Legislative Public Safety Committee Chair Leni Binder, second from the right, made the presentation to Chief Dispatcher Chella Cavanagh and Dispatcher Charles Rampe, left.
