Farmers markets open in Sullivan County

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — With pastel greens brightening the region’s landscapes, vendors in Callicoon, Jeffersonville and Liberty opened the Sullivan County Area Farmers Market season last weekend.

The markets offer an assortment of goods that represent the growing presence of specialty agricultural products available in the Catskills and Mid-Hudson regions. In addition to fresh vegetables and fruits, flower baskets, baked goods and free-range meats, patrons can sample wines and buy homemade cheeses, yogurts, jams, chutneys, maple products, fudges and even handmade Belgian chocolates.

Jeffersonville’s market on Main Street is open Thursdays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.; Liberty’s market on Darbee Lane is open Fridays from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m.; and Callicoon’s market in the Callicoon Creek Park is open Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
