Garden Day activities at Grey Towers

MILFORD, PA — Enjoy a day of of learning, workshops, demonstrations and vendors at Grey Towers National Historic Site’s Garden Day 2005, scheduled for Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The all-day symposium will include a continental breakfast and lunch. Pre-registration is required.

Each participant will attend three of nine available workshops during the day. Topics include a two-part class on Landscape Design, Weekend Gardening, Ornamental Grasses, Container Gardening, Creating a Rain Garden, Composting and a Horticultural Walking Tour of Grey Towers.

The keynote speaker this year is Graham Rice who will discuss the planting and care of perennials. Graham is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society and trained in Horticulture at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. He is the author of numerous gardening books.

Participants also can enjoy a guided horticulture walk of the gardens at Grey Towers, led by Elizabeth Hawke, the Grey Towers’ horticulturist. This hour-long garden tour will feature the historic landscape architecture and modern-day landscape maintenance and horticultural practices.

Registration for the event is required and a $30 per person fee covers the workshops and includes lunch. Registration deadline is May 9.
