International delights support the arts in Wayne County

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance’s third annual International Food Tasting, expanded this year to provide more seating and offer an even vaster selection of locally prepared dishes, will be held Sunday, May 15 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Central Methodist Hall on 11th Street.

Arts Alliance members will serve their own ethnic specialties alongside well-known chefs from the Bryn Mawr Conference Center, Torte Knox, Café Deja Vu, Nature’s Grace, Glinsky’s Kitchen Capers, JJ Mack’s, the Himalayan Institute, Jill’s Kitchen, The Settlers Inn, Tick Tocks and Clearwater Seafood. Authentic dishes at the buffet will include Laarb Kai, a Thai chicken salad; bobotie, a savory South African meat stew; vegetarian sushi rolls; pierogies; snert, a traditional Dutch soup; cream puffs and apple strudel; and ricotta cheesecake. An acclaimed French chef, the host of the recent PBS documentary, “Tales from the Vineyard,” will serve his signature crepes.

Adding to this year’s expanded menu of vegetarian dishes will be Nathaniel Whitmore, a local herbalist who will prepare seasonal wild vegetables such as burdock and wild carrots.

Every year, proceeds from this event make possible the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s Artist Studio Tour, which is scheduled to take place from August 26 to 28 throughout the county. A brochure for the tour will be available at the food tasting.

Tickets cost $10 at the door. Take-out will be available. For more information call 570/253-1000 or visit waynecountyartsalliance.org.
