New Human Rights Commission sworn

MONTICELLO, NY — One of the Democratic Party platform issues from the 2003 election came to pass on April 21 as the Sullivan County Legislature hosted a swearing-in ceremony for the county’s newly installed Sullivan County Human Rights Commission.

The quasi-judicial commission will hear and investigate discrimination complaints, publish their findings and when necessary, recommend legal action to the state attorney general.

Monticello Village Justice Josephine Finn administered the oath to nine members including Paul Austin of Kaueonga Lake, Judy Balaban-Krauss of Bethel, Emmett Bassett of Grahamsville, Cesar Loarca of Hurleyville, Carolyn Massey of Monticello, Robert McLeod of Parksville, Roland Ward of South Fallsburg, Eileen Haworth-Weil of Summitville and Jesse York of Monticello.
