Architectural bus tour travels historic Route 4

LIBERTY, NY — The tenth annual Sullivan County Architectural Bus Tour will offer two identical four-hour trips on Saturday, April 30. Buses will leave from the Liberty Museum and Arts Center at 9:00 a.m. (returning at 1:00 p.m.) and 2:00 p.m. (returning at 6:00).

The second in a series of eight tours, this trip will look at an important part of Sullivan County’s history: the theme is “A Historic Tour along State Route 4, the First Paved Highway between New York City and Cleveland, Ohio.”

The bus will travel from Liberty to Parksville, through the Hunter Lake area to DeBruce for a reception at a private estate provided by LoCascio’s of Liberty. The trip will continue on through Livingston Manor and Ferndale and then back to the museum.

Returning host John Conway, author and Sullivan County historian, and Liberty architect Robert Dadras will lead the tours. This year’s tour will also feature Town of Liberty Councilman Maurice Gerry, whose structural restoration and efforts to preserve local history over the past 20 years will serve as an important part of the day.

The price per ticket is $35. Profits will benefit cultural organizations in Sullivan County.
