Sullivan West announces dates to remember

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — The Sullivan West Board of Registration will meet at each of the election districts on April 13 and May 11 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of registering qualified voters of the school district. The public hearing on the budget will be May 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the high school.

Election and voting on the 2005/2006 budget will take place on May 17 at each of the Sullivan West election districts between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m.

Petitions are available for three seats, for three-year terms, on the board of education currently headed by William P. Erdman, Carol A. Nearing and Arthur J. Norden. Petitions are also available to elect one member to the board of education for a two-year term, for the unexpired term as a result of the resignation of Jerry Murphy, which is now occupied by Jerry Triolo. Petitions are available in the District Office in Callicoon between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Petitions for nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18.

Anyone interested in obtaining an absentee ballot for the district election and budget vote must first request an application for absentee ballot. The district clerk must receive applications no later than May 10 (7 days before the vote) if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or by May 16 if the ballot will be picked up at the district clerk’s office. All absentee ballots are due in the district clerk’s office by May 17.
