Edible and medicinal plant nature walk
SKINNERS FALLS, NY Join Nathaniel Whitmore on a nature walk on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Skinners Falls. An advanced student of herbalism, Whitmore collects a large portion of his diet from the wild. He knows how to identify, gather and prepare many of the areas wild edible plants and plants that have a history of use as medicinal herbs.
Often, plants growing wild are labeled as weeds but have been or are valued as food and medicine all over the world. Wild plants sustained our ancestors. Wild edible plants are a source of fresh, healthy vegetables that do not require gardening. There is a diverse abundance of different edible plants available locally throughout the year, including roots, greens, flowers, nuts, and berries. There is no cost for the nature walk, but donations are appreciated.
