‘Oliver’ at Monticello will bring the house down

MONTICELLO, NY — Charles Dickens’ captivating tale of the trials and tribulations of the orphan Oliver Twist comes to life in Monticello High School’s production of the musical “Oliver.”

Directed by Patti Sonnenschein and Jennifer Romano, the elaborate production features a fine orchestra under the direction of Kevin Dirth, who also serves as the play’s producer. Sonnenschein designed the sets and Romano handled the choreography. Martin Banner is the show's vocal music director and rehearsal accompanist.

Oliver’s difficult circumstances in the workhouse, at the undertaker’s parlor and during his involvement with the gang of thieves is musically carried by delightful numbers such as “Food, Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “I’d Do Anything,” “As Long As He Needs Me,” and “Who Will Buy.” Look for fabulous performances from all of the principal characters, including Jared Goldstein as Oliver, Keenan Hall as the Artful Dodger, Josh Setren as Fagin, Kristin Van Hage as Nacy, Vincent Seekamp as Bill Sykes, David Melchione as Mr. Bumble, Jennifer Shickle as the Widow Corney, Chip Bigness as Mr. Sowerberry, and Courtney Greynolds as Mrs. Sowerberry.
