Sullivan West inducts 35 into National Honor Society
By RICHARD A. ROSS
LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY Good work sets standards for us; great work does more, it inspires us, noted Sullivan West Superintendent Alan Derry as he addressed the assembled audience on the occasion of the schools National Honor Society inductions on March 15.
Great work on the part of 35 of Sullivan Wests finest students is what led to their induction into the schools chapter of the National Honor Society.
The evening began with dinner in the school cafeteria, which was then followed by the induction ceremony in the schools auditorium.
After Andrea Wagner delivered a lovely rendition of the National Anthem, National Honor Society president Natalie Triolo referred to the new inductees as the best that Sullivan West has to offer. Lighting the candles of knowledge, scholarship, leadership, character and servicecornerstones of the National Honor Societycurrent members Jaclyn Bunch, Emily Nebzydoski, Tierney Cole, Helen Norden and Natalie Triolo briefly defined those component qualities that each society member must embody as a National Honor Society member.
Each new inductee was called forward and introduced by a current National Honor Society member who summarized their most outstanding qualities and achievements prior to their being given a candle to light, which symbolized their enlightened position as a National Honor Society member.
This years inductees were: April Ackermann, Jessica Armstrong, Laura Berger, Sarah Berger, Ross Bernhardt, Kimberly Boyd, Tara Brewer, Brett Cucci, Morgan Embleton, Kaitlyn Fanning, Marjorie Gabriel, Kienan Garn, Karry Johnston, Diana Justus, Veronica Kearney, Donna Kelly, Kristi Kern, Konrad Koss, Trevor Kreznar, Ashley Luckey, Caleb Mall, James Meyer, Ashley Nicoletti, Amanda Niemann, Anna-Laurence Oliver, Kimberly Parks, Kevin Pinkel, Jessica Pitz, Bret Reimer, Skie Rocco, Maegan Sauer, Laura Stabbart, Stevie VanWagenen, Derek Wall and Steven Yeung.
