Poetry project prepares for epic book tour of Ireland

CALLICOON, NY — “Father Joiner’s Purgative Poetry Project,” a one-man show created by Richard Grunn, has appeared in cafés, churches, pubs in Ireland, bookstores, libraries and even birthday parties. The driving force behind its creation was a desire to bring theater to the people.

The show will be performed on Friday, April 1 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delaware Youth Center. Admission is $10 and all proceeds will benefit the show’s tour of Ireland. It has been invited to perform at three venues. The first stop will be in County Limerick at the historic Whitehouse. Then two shows will be performed at County Cork on the Beara Peninsula-Vickery’s Hotel in Bantry and the Anam Cara Writer’s Retreat in Eyerie where the poet laureate Billy Collins will perform this summer.

“Father Joiner’s Purgative Poetry Project” is a show that takes place in the setting of a poetry reading where Grunn portrays a variety of winsome characters. They are brought together by Father Joiner, group leader and poet laureate of magnetic refrigerator poetry. Grunn is an actor/artist who has performed on numerous stages in the New York metropolitan area. Most recently he performed a gallery of characters in “The Key,” an original one-man show at the Tusten Theatre.
