BOCES expansion vote today
LIBERTY, NY Sullivan County school district voters are going to the polls today, March 17, to decide the fate of a $17.2 million expansion project at the Liberty BOCES campus.
Polls will be open in each of Sullivan Countys eight districts from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.
For Eldred Central School district residents, the polling place will be the Eldred Central School High School building.
For Sullivan West School District residents, there are three polling places. For residents within the boundaries of the former Delaware Valley Central School District, the polling place will be at the Delaware Valley Building; for residents within the boundaries of the former Jeffersonville-Youngsville School District, the polling place will be at the Jeffersonville Building; and residents within the boundaries of the former Narrowsburg Central School District can cast their votes at the Tusten-Cochecton branch of the Western Sullivan Library.
BOCES Superintendent Martin Handler warned in January that failing approval of the 18-room expansion, crowded program spaces may force BOCES to direct outlying districts to place some students in other counties.
At the time, however, local school officials expressed concern about the additional expense added to already double-digit budget increases proposed for this year.
