DVAA launches Arts Alive Drive
NARROWSBURG, NY The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance Board of Directors and staff are raising the bar on fundraising with Arts Alive Drive. The goal is to raise $75,000 in new resources, $1 per person for the arts, before June 30. The $75,000 figure recognizes the population of Sullivan County as well as the communities that the Arts Alliance serves on the Pennsylvania side of the Upper Delaware Valley. The goal will be met by a membership drive to enlist 100 new members, one-time and renewable grants, proceeds from Signature Gifts, a new permanent gift shop that opened March 5, and an Art-a-thon in June, aided by deWit Media Group and WYCY, aimed at individual giving.
The money raised will be used to alleviate the operating costs of the Alliances programs and facilities, build up fellowship, scholarship and endowment programs, and increase grant programs that support cultural organizations and artists throughout Sullivan County and the Upper Delaware. 50 percent of all proceeds raised above the goal will go to re-grant programs.
Since 1984, The Arts Alliance has granted over $400,000 to organizations that provide cultural programming to their communities, including opera and orchestra performances, exhibits, publications by writers groups and historical societies and documentaries.
Every community has unique assets and a varying number of cultural institutions. This program recognizes the differences and helps each community grow in a way that is meaningful to them, said Elaine Giguere, DVAA executive director.
Contributions of any amount can be sent to DVAA/Arts Alive Drive, P.O. Box 170, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. Arts Alive Drive donation boxes are also in many business locations.
