MARGUERITE GARDNER
DINGMANS FERRY, PA Marguerite Gardner, a resident of Dingmans Ferry, died at home on Monday, January 24, 2005. She was 85.
The daughter of George and Anna (Lanners) Schaubach, she was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 20, 1919.
She was a retired secretary for Selected Risk Insurance Co. in Branchville, NJ, and a member of the Church of Christian Science, Dingmans Ferry Senior Citizens, Tilgman-Angle-Smith American Legion Auxiliary, Cliff Park Golf Club, AARP and a treasurer of the Delaware Township Library.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet McIrney of Sparrowbush, NY; one son, Paul Gardner of Glen Spey, NY; one brother, John Schaubach of Oakland, NJ; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place in Delaware Cemetery in Dingmans Ferry.

EVELYN E. (MONAGHAN) MURRAY
HAWLEY, PA Evelyn E. (Monaghan) Murray, a lifelong resident of Hawley, died on January 21, 2005 at Bethany Village in Bethany following an illness. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Patrick H and Emily Spring Monaghan, she was born in Hawley.
A retired bookkeeper for Ugite Gas Co., she was a member of the Queen of Peace RC Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Murray; a daughter, Joan Vollkommer; and three brothers, Edward, Robert and Joseph Monaghan.
She is survived by her son, Col. Thomas P. Murray of Waynesville, MO; her sister, Alice Morgan of California; her grandchildren, Kirk, Chrissy and Keith Vollkommer and Christoper and Heather E. Murray; three-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be scheduled for a later date.
Garry C. Myers III
COLUMBUS, OH Garry C. Myers III, a resident of Columbus, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. He was 59.
He was the son of the late Garry C. Myers Jr. and Mary M. Myers, who served as president and vice president for Highlights for Children Magazine, and the grandson of Garry Cleveland Myers, Ph.D., and Caroline Clark Myers, who founded Highlights for Children magazine in 1946.
After growing up in Columbus, Myers moved to Austin, Texas, with his four siblings following the death of their parents. They lived with their uncle and aunt, Jack and Evelyn Myers, and their family in Texas.
In 1964, Myers entered Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and the next year enlisted in the U.S. Army for four years. He graduated from U.S. Army Language School in Monterey, CA, and served as a Spanish language specialist in Panama. He received a bachelors degree in International Affairs at George Washington University in 1972 and then earned a M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Michigan. In 1971 he was elected to the board of directors of Highlights for Children, Inc. He joined Highlights in 1975 as a management information analyst. In 1978, he became vice president of mail sales and promotion and in 1980 was named president of the Highlights Corporation. He had been chief executive officer since 1981.
Myers was active in the educational publishing industry, serving on the board of the Direct Marketing Association, Classroom Mailers Association, Classroom Publishers Association and Direct Selling Association. He chaired the Ethics Committee of the Direct Marketing Association for a number of years.
Myers was the early model for Gallant, the much loved brother in the popular Highlights feature Goofus and Gallant®.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory and Garry Myers IV, and their mother, Melanie Myers, all of Columbus; two sisters, Patricia Mikelson, of Columbus, and Marie Jolene Rich, of Maine; two brothers, Tom and Fred of Austin, TX; his paternal uncle, Jack; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 1, at the First Community Church in Grandview.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Calkins Union Church in Calkins, PA.
Interment will be in Calkins Cemetery.

ELIZABETH (KOSKOVICH) PAPPAS
GREELEY, PA Elizabeth (Koskovich) Pappas, a resident of Greeley, died on January 24, 2005 at the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was 46.
The daughter of Bertha Cook Lippincott and Stephen Koskovich, she was born in Sussex, NJ.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Bertha and James Lippincott Sr. of Franklin, NJ; her father and stepmother, Stephen and Louise Koskovich of Scranton; her fiancée, Elias Toth of Greeley; her daughters, Tash McPeak of Greenville, NY and Alexis DeFerrio of Inverness, FL; her sons, Frank McPeak of Greentown, Adam McPeak and Tobias Toth, both of Greeley; her brothers, Stephen Koskovich, III of Portland, OR and Leonard; her step brother, James Lippincott, Jr. of Franklin, NJ; her step sisters, Victoria Teabo and Debra Gibbs, both of Belvidere, NJ and Veronica Hill of Wantage, NJ; her uncle, Thomas Cook of Hamburg, NJ; 14 nieces and nephews; and seven great nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass was held on Saturday, January 29 at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Thomas J. Petro, pastor, officiating.
STACIE MARIE SACCO
SPARROWBUSH, NY Stacie Marie Sacco, a resident of Sparrowbush and a long time area resident, died in an automobile accident on Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Clinton Township, PA. She was 34.
The daughter of Gerald D. and Mary E Corcoran Sacco, Sr., she was born June 16, 1970 in Middletown, NY.
She was an accounts manager for Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was a 1988 graduate of Port Jervis High School. In 1992 she received a bachelor of science in business administration with a minor in computer science from the University of South Carolina in Conway, SC.
She was the treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the Orange County Safe Homes of Newburgh and the assistant coach for the Pop Warner Lions Football Team Cheerleading Squad.
She is survived by her daughter, Lindsey Gibbs and her son, Justin Gibbs, both at home; her fiancé, Dalen Espie at home; her parents, Gerald D. Sacco Sr. and Mary Sacco; her sister, Kerri Sacco Conklin and her husband William and Steven P. Sacco, all of Port Jervis; and the family guardian, Yellow Lab Cracker Jack Sacco at home.
Services were held on Wednesday, January 26 at the Grey-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis with Reverend Robert Foster officiating.
Interment will be at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

GEORGE R. SWEET
HAWLEY, PA George R. Sweet, a resident of Woodloch Springs in Hawley and a former resident of Linden, NJ and Scotch Plains, NJ, died at home on January 21, 2005 following a lengthy illness. He was 74.
The son of the late George E. and Florence Ferry Sweet, he was born in Linden, NJ.
He was the president of Sweet Sign and Advertising Co. in Linden, NJ, and a member of the Queen of Peace RC Church in Hawley. A graduate of Linden High School, he earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1952 and his MBA from New York University.
He was a 30-year member of the Rotary Club, a recipient of the Rotary Clubs Paul Harris Fellow Award, a past president of the Rotary Club, CYO coach and moderator, F.I.S.H. volunteer driver, member of the University of Note Dame and NYU Alumni Associations, past president of Jaycees of Linden, NJ, past president of Sales Executive Club of Newark, NJ, and a past member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scotch Plains, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, JoAnn (Berg) Sweet; his daughters, Mary Sweet Palladino, widow of Robert Palladino of Eagleville, PA and Susan and her husband Alan Howarth of Medford, NJ; two sons, Thomas and his wife Susan of Pittsford, NY and John and his wife Maria of Doylestown; a sister, Margaret and her husband John Hubeny of Jupiter, FL; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on February 11 at the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church.

MARTHA J. (BENJAMIN) WARGO
LAKE ARIEL, PA Martha J. (Benjamin) Wargo, a three month resident of Lake Ariel and a former resident of Hawley and Hamlin, died at the home of her son on January 25, 2005 following a brief illness. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Arthur Elwood and Bertha May Mitchell Benjamin, she was born in Hawley.
A former mill worker for Sherman Mills in Hawley and Katz in Honesdale, she attended Cole Memorial Baptist Church in Hawley.
A family statement said: She was a loving mother and grandmother with a kind heart and soul. She enjoyed reading novels.
She is survived by her son, Leonard A. Wargo, with whom she resided in Lake Ariel; her daughter, Freda Black of Hamlin; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by seven sisters, Helen Compton, Esther McLain, Florence Firmstone, Gladys Blanovich, Freda Davis, Adaline Weist and Edna Cron; three brothers, Harold, Ivan and Charles Benjamin.
Services were held on January 29 at the Teeters East Chapel with Reverend Ronald W. Onder officiating.
Interment will be in Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley.
