Local artists bring unique workshops to area
CALLICOON, NYDefrost your soul and retrieve the creativity that awaits within when jazz pianist/singer Kazzrie Jaxen and artist/teacher Hana Marritz join to facilitate a series of three Sunday workshops from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on February 13, February 27 and March 13.
Participants will explore their creativity through the use of guided meditation, under-the-piano sound journeying, energy exercises and drawing. The setting will provide powerful support for creative manifestation.
The series is open to 10 participants. Previous experience is not necessary. A commitment to all three workshops is required. The fee is $225, with a $25 non-refundable deposit upon registration.

Wurtsboro WinterFest
WURTSBORO, NYFeaturing the band, Hot Rod, and local celebrity, Randy Turner of Mix 97FM, this year the Wurtsboro WinterFest will be held on Saturday, February 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sullivan Street. Under heated tents lining Veterans Park, Turner and The Carl Richards Band, which plays rock, bluegrass and country music, will perform alongside craft vendors as well as artists and artisans from the Rockaway Arts Alliance.

Arts alliance prepares for summer
WAYNE COUNTY, PAThe Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) is preparing for the public art event of the summer. Similar to the Deer Games of last summer, when decorated deer adorned the streets, this years events will feature Adirondack-style chairs. The chairs, not only artistic, are also functional. The chairs will be debuted on Memorial Day weekend; an auction will take place in mid August.
