Pike County continues support for Habitat
Niel Nielsen, president of the Pike County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, second from left, receives a $50,000 check from county commissioners, from the left, Richard Caridi, Harry Forbes and Karl Wagner. Forbes said that the commissioners make an annual donation to Habitat and that funding for the January 12 presentation was raised from a fee collected when the county records deeds. Employing the sweat equity of future owners, donations and volunteer labor, Habitat has raised 10 new homes in the eight years the organization has existed in Pike County, Nielsen said.
