Local nordic ski patrol creates winter awareness
In an attempt to help the public safely enjoy winter weather, the Upper Delaware Nordic Ski Patrol created a winter awareness brochure. Covering what to do and not do before going on an excursion, and while in the weather, the brochure outlines what to do in emergency situations, the most efficient ways to dress, and what foods and essentials should be brought along.
Subtitled A Guide to Winter Backcountry Travel Preparedness and Survival, the handout can be found in boxes at trailheads around the Promised Land State Park and surrounding Bureau of Forestry lands.
One of the most important duties of our patrol is public education, said patrol founder, Pete Snyder of Lake Ariel
The patrol is looking for modest funding so large quantities of the brochure may be printed and distributed.
