Narrowsburg Post Office to commemorate EagleFest 2005
NARROWSBURG, NY Narrowsburg Postmaster Myrna Helbock will offer a special pictorial stamp cancellation on January 15 to commemorate the fourth annual EagleFest, a day devoted to celebrating the return of the bald eagle to the Delaware River Valley.
Immediately following the opening ceremony for EagleFest, which begins at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the Sullivan West Central School in Narrowsburg, located at 7 Erie Avenue, representatives from the Narrowsburg Post Office will commence the pictorial cancellation in the auditorium.
The post office will offer sales of a wide array of stamps and a specially designed cachet bearing the postmark and featuring the official EagleFest logoa John DiGiorgio photograph of an eagle perched on a limbfor $1. The cancellation image features an eagle soaring over a mountaintop and the words New Yorks Eagle Capitol.
The cancellation itself costs nothing, but must be applied to a first-class postage stamp. Attendees may also bring their own mail to be postmarked with the unique cancellation.
This event will be the first one commemorated by the Postal Service with a specially designed postmark. Were eagerly awaiting EagleFest, Helbock said. This special cancellation will provide a unique, inexpensive keepsake of the 2005 event.
Festivities for EagleFest are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. EagleFest founders John and Yoke Bauer DiGiorgio of Natures Art LCC have striven to combine a day of entertainment with education for young and old alike.
The pictorial cancellation will be available for 30 days after EagleFest. Stamped items to receive the cancellation should be mailed in a larger envelope to: EagleFest Cancellation, Narrowsburg Post Office, 75 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY 12764-9998. A self-addressed return envelope must also be included.
