The Catskills Puppet Theater to perform at college
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY The Catskills Puppet Theater, along with Young Audiences of New Jersey and noted childrens author Dr. Janice Cohn, will present The Town that Fought Hate on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Seelig Theatre. The production, based on Cohns book, The Christmas Menorahs: How a Town Fought Hate, employs music, masks, a large revolving stage and an amazing array of puppetry techniques.
Based on a true incident that occurred in Billings, Montana in 1993, the story begins when a hate group harasses young Isaac, his family and other minority groups in town. Inspired by legends of the King of Denmark and his people who helped their Jewish neighbors during World War II, the citizens of Billings band together to stand up to bullies and stop the bigotry that threatens their peaceful community.
Tickets are $5 general admission, one adult free with four children, and will be available at the door.
