Society hosts historical dinner

PORT JERVIS, NY — The Minisink Valley Historical Society will hold a colonial Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fort Decker, the stone house museum located on West Main Street. Guests can relax with a mug of mulled cider and watch as food is cooked over an open fire.

The all-day program will demonstrate colonial cooking techniques including the baking of bread, roasting of ducks and turkeys, baking of pumpkin pies and making cranberry sauce and hot mulled cider the old-fashioned way. Society volunteers will demonstrate how a typical late 18th century Thanksgiving dinner was cooked and served.
