Free Thanksgiving dinner
MILFORD, PA Continuing an annual tradition, a free community Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings will be held in Milford on November 25 for those who cannot be with their families or are in need on Thanksgiving Day.
The meal is prepared at the First Presbyterian Church on Broad and Ann Streets and is served at 12:00 noon on Thursday.
The day starts much earlier for the volunteers who cook the food, since they first pack up and deliver turkey dinners and lots of extras to many people in Meals on Wheels programs or to anyone who finds it difficult to come out.
This program is made possible through the efforts of many people. Local businesses make donations to buy the food, the church provides its ample kitchen and hall, Boy Scout Troop 71 helps with set up and delivery, volunteers bake desserts for donation and area volunteers cook and serve the food in a pleasant family atmosphere. It is a yearly tradition for many, who will often join their own families for Thanksgiving dinner later. Some transportation can be provided. All are invited to share in the food and fellowship at 12:00 noon and volunteers are always welcome.
For more information call Steve Davis at 570/296-8079 or the church accepts calls at 296-4711 on Thursday morning.
