Democrats, Republicans say campaign signs were stolen

HONESDALE, PA — Democratic Party leaders Maurice Meagher and Jet Mermell, shown to the right, say they have the names of over 20 Democrats whose Kerry/Edwards campaign signs were stolen or defaced.

“It seems like a systematic approach is being followed,” Meagher said. “Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. for some weeks now, signs have been disappearing or knocked over in Honesdale.”

Bob Sohusky, a Republican and a resident of the Honesdale area, said two out of three of his Bush/Cheney signs were stolen one night last week.

And Harry Forbes, Pike County Commissioner, said many Bush/Cheney signs were being torn down.

State and local police are investigating the apparent thefts.
