Wind Farm proposal gets $200,000 from NY
LIBERTY, NY Governor George Pataki announced last week a $200,000 award for a Citizens Energy Corporation (CEC) project to conduct a multi-faceted wind prospecting and development project in the Town of Liberty.
The announcement was part of $1.2 million in awards tapped for seven projects to develop renewable energy technologies in the state. The governor spoke at the 9th Annual National Green Power Marketing Conference held in Albany.
CEC plans to conduct traditional wind project prospecting activities at this site but looks to involve the community to develop a mutually beneficial business model for wind development. The site is predicted to support up to 30 megawatts of rated wind capacity.
The seven projects are being funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to support renewable energy production facilities that will sell electricity into the states wholesale electric market.
