Columbus Day highlights
REGION Saturday of the holiday weekend will feature Pumpkin Fest 04 at the Spring House Commons in Barryville from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which includes a pumpkin recipe bake-off, pumpkin carving, a pie-eating contest and costume competitions for kids, adults and pets. There will also be live music, a farm stand and a silent auction.
On Sunday of the final weekend of the Fall Harvest Festival at Bethel Woods, Sullivan County firefighters will compete in the second annual Chili Day in October cook-off between 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. Come and judge their efforts at the festival on Hurd Road off Route 17-B.
