Eighth annual Meadow Party is a success

NARROWSBURG, NY — Despite Ivan, the eighth annual Meadow Party was a success.

Kuni Holbert, a director of the Wayne County Community Foundation, kicked off the event with the presentation of an $800 check in recognition of the goals of the annual party.

“We heartily thank the Wayne County Community Foundation for this generous donation. It is the support of the foundation, as well as all the many other businesses and individuals who made this day both a celebration of life in the region and a fundraiser for our continued efforts,” said Sue Currier, executive director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy.

The highlight of the day was the forty-one restaurants and grocers who competed in the first annual Delaware Delights people’s choice awards. Winners included Café Déjà Vu, Best Main Dish, for its spinach bake; Cora’s Bistro, honorable mention, for its mushroom risotto; Just Rumors, honorable mention, for its sausage bread; The Settlers Inn, Best Side Dish, for its roasted beet salad with boursin cheese; Stellas, honorable mention, for its orzo and vegetables; Matthew’s on Main, honorable mention, for its toasted corn salad; The Inn at Starlight Lake, Best Dessert, for its sour cream apple pie; and The Front Porch Café, honorable mention, for its cookies and assorted pastries.

“Thanks and congratulations to all the vendors who participated. Food donations not only helped the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, but in late afternoon were directed to flood evacuees as well as to the Kelly Home for Adults in Narrowsburg,” explained Sue.
