Von Steuben royalty preps for annual celebration YULAN, NY—The royalty has been named for Highland’s 2004 Germanic celebration. Dignitaries will include, from the left, Miss Germany, Stephanie Roeder of Yulan; King, John Valic of Barryville; and Queen, Lorraine Lilholt of Yulan. Saturday will mark the 14th annual celebration of Yulan’s Von Steuben Day Parade and Germanfest. The 12:00 noon parade honors the Revolutionary War drillmaster of General Washington’s army, Baron Friedrich Wilhelm Augustus von Steuben. The Germanfest at the Fireman’s Field follows the parade and includes German and other food specialties from the area’s best restaurants, plus wines and beers. There will also be hamburgers, hot dogs and other beverages, rides and activities for the kids. | |||||
