Walking tour becoming a trend

BARRYVILLE, NY — The newly formed Barryville Chamber of Commerce will host the second River Road Historic Walking Tour on Sunday, September 26.

Narrated by Sullivan County Historian John Conway, the walk is free to the public. Conway will cover a number of topics, including the D&H Canal, the Delaware River ferry, the Barryville-Shohola Suspension Bridge, the New York and Erie Railroads and the tourism industry that was spawned shortly after the railroad’s arrival in 1848. Conway will also provide illustrated handouts containing information on some of these topics.

The event will begin with a brief introductory lecture at the Spring House Commons at 11:00 a.m. and culminate at Past Perfect Rare Books Antiques and Collectibles.
